According to independent study about cloud storage usage in the enterprise done by Research Now that invovled 200 IT professoinals, organisations that use file storage service are reported to prefer private cloud storage solutions over SAAS alternatives.
63% of the respondents favour private cloud storage solutions over public offerings like Dropbox. The report also found that 25% of organisations have implemented private cloud file sync and share tools, while 20% of organisations have implemented cloud storage gateways.
Security is one of the major issues of using cloud storage solution as data could be vulnerable to hack attempts. Businsess are trying to find ways of using cloud storage while still maintaining control over who accesses their data. Most of these organisations want a completely private cloud or their own database for internal control of their data and policies, also noted by the report.
According to a new study from Panorama Consulting, which provides ERP software selection and project advisory services, after surveying 192 companies with annual revenue ranging from below US$25 million to more than $2 billion between January 2013 and February of this year, it reports that Fifty-four percent of respondents said their projects went over budget, compared to 53 percent in a survey Panorama conducted last year.
The majority of respondents who said projects ran longer than expected cited “organizational issues” as the primary reason, according to Panorama. This was a change from the last survey, in which “scope increase,” or an expansion of the project’s original size, took the most blame.
Infor is betting on Amazon Web Services with offering CloudSuite to be available on the AWS service.
“SaaS today refers primarily to HCM [human capital management], CRM [customer relationship management] or another edge application, never to mission-critical business operations,” Charles Phillips (CEO of Infor) said in a statement. “Infor CloudSuite redefines cloud for the enterprise, delivering the first full suite of business applications purpose-built by industry running in a public cloud through Amazon Web Services.” also stated by Charles.
“This is a nice vote of confidence for AWS,” said analyst Michael Coté, director of infrastructure software research at 451 Research, via email. “However, I think most SaaS companies would look at AWS as capable of being used like this. There might be questions about pricing long-term, but technologically it’s just a stack of middleware running on a bunch of servers.”
VersAccounts Ltd today launched its EcoSphere Solution Provider Network Program to partner with Value Added Resellers (VARs) and Referral Consultants.
“We have been working with channel partners globally for over a year, and developed this program with them” said Sunil Pande, CEO of VersAccounts. “It is based on our core principals of simplicity, fairness, transparency, and common sense, and rejects the complicated, deal based approaches to partnering that are common today. We aspire to work with the channel as true partners in a co-equal and collaborative relationship. One sided partnering arrangements don’t have any place in the future. They are bad for the partner, and as a consequence bad for customers, and we will have nothing to do with them.”
“The VersAccounts Solution Provider Program continues our tradition of challenging the norm” said Jay Wendland, Head of Sales and Chief Partner Advocate at VersAccounts. “Unlike traditional reseller programs we don’t charge an annual membership fee. We also offer free unlimited 24x7x365 priority support to our partners. Partner margins are 50% in perpetuity, and we reject the whole concept of achievement tiers.”
